Our Long History Serving the Quincy, IL Community
[divider style=’dark’]
Decades ago when times where simpler and time seemed to pass much slower, Quincy Illinois was comprised of many small neighborhoods. Though Quincy was a small city, life in the city centered more around the small businesses, churches and schools found in these neighborhoods.
Cars were far fewer then and the citizens that lived in those neighborhoods frequented the small businesses in those neighborhoods by walking a short distance from their homes or apartments. Back during these simpler times, there where over a hundred corner grocery stores much like Winkings Market.
Quincy Illinois has a long history that extends to the early 1800’s. The building that Winkings Market occupies was built in 1852 and still stands strong today.

Winkings has been in business since 1948. Winking’s was started by Richard “Dick” Winking and Elsie Feld. Dick Winking was very proud of his business and cared very much for his customers. His customers have felt the same because generations of his customers keep coming back to Winkings Market to trade. Through good times and bad, Winkings Market has maintained that locally owned small business feeling and touch.
Dick Winking operated the store until 2005 when he sold the business to his youngest son Frank Winking. Winkings is currently owned and operated by Frank Winking.
